Who are we?
The European Brain Data Hub (EBDH) is the first European altruistic association for mental health and brain data. EBDH facilitates the voluntary sharing of data to enhance research, public policies, and healthcare. The EBDH was established in the context of the Data Governance Act to provide a secure European data-sharing platform aimed at advancing health—particularly mental and brain health.
What is Data Altruism?
By promoting data altruism, the EBDH enables individuals to easily and securely share their data for the public good. Through the creation of robust, cross-border data pools, the EBDH will unlock the potential of data analytics in healthcare, accelerating medical research, improving patient outcomes, and driving innovative solutions to complex health challenges for the benefit of society.
Driving Change Through objectives of general interests
The EBDH counts within its objectives of general interests:
- The promotion of altruism in the field of health data, particularly in the areas of mental health and brain health.
- Conducting altruistic activities related to health data or any other data relevant to mental and brain health.
- Outside any commercial relationship, collecting, processing, and making available health data or data relevant to mental and brain health for purposes of general interest, particularly for research, the improvement of public policies and healthcare.
What for?
The EBDH will provide data altruists donors with the ability to easily and voluntarily share their data for purposes of general interest — an opportunity previously unavailable to them, as they did not easily have access to this data. Additionally, the EBDH will empower patients to seamlessly retrieve their data from various data holders, including health professionals, hospitals, social workers, institutions, mobile applications, and health insurance providers, thereby strengthening their ability to exercise their rights under the GDPR.
